Creating since birth
I grew up in a home where graphic design was what put the food on our table. Whether due to nature, nurture, or some combination of the two, my early creative and artistic endeavors were always well received. I was the kid in class who designed the bulletin boards and won the poster contests. By high school, though, aside from a couple of photography courses, I was firmly entrenched on the literary side of things — creative writing and literary analysis. These, too, were well received (and eventually lead to a maximum score on my English AP Exam).

Educated and inspired
My formal art education didn’t begin until college where, due to a lack of seniority that prevented me from enrolling in the upper-level English courses I needed, I took some drawing and design classes to fill out my GenEd requirements. It was in the design courses where one of my professors, (Walt Hines—https://ahtcreative.com/walt-hines/), convinced me to jump ship from English and major in Visual Communication.

Experienced
That was over a quarter of a century ago, and since that time I have experienced just about every imaginable aspect of the Visual Communication, Graphic Design and Graphic Arts fields, short of actually running a printing press.

Quirky
According to the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator®, I am an INTJ (Assertive) personality — as are about 2% of the general population but about 25% of design professionals. I am an imaginative and strategic thinker/problem solver with a keen desire for knowledge; I am independent and decisive, hard-working and determined, open-minded and self-confident.
I really like bacon (I guess that’s not so quirky … ), and it doesn’t matter to me as to which side of the keyboard the mouse is on.
When I'm not working—and sometimes even when working—I prefer to be outdoors.
